Life Update 2026

 Time for another life update I think!


Sooo much has happened in the last 5 years since we bought our house.  In August 2021, we brought home this beautiful little ball of fluff and called him Hamish :) He's a crazy wee Yorkshire Terrier and turns 5 at the end of the month.

And yes he has his own Instagram (obvs) - Wee Hamish The Yorkie


Hamish isn't the only recent addition in the last few years... Meet Erin :) she's now almost 3 and is an absolute whirlwind!


And as if a dog and baby weren't enough excitement...we also finally got married!



And yes, I will be updating my About Me section now!

The absolute worst part of going on holiday is when you have a stupidly early flight, although it does mean you get to spend the rest of the day at your destination!  Our flight from Edinburgh to Barcelona El Prat Airport was at 6.30am which meant a 4am wake up for us! The flight was pretty non-eventful, but annoyingly, the luggage belt at the other end didn’t start for a good 30-40 mins after landing which made us worry because we only had a one hour window to collect our rental car.  As it happened that wasn’t a problem because when we got to the car rental desk there was a bit of a queue! I’d say only around 15 people in front of us but it took just under TWO HOURS to get our car, meaning we had to change our plans slightly and cut out the Sagrada de Familia from our schedule 😒 Last time we rented a car from Barcelona El Prat it took 5-10 minutes but this time they seemed to take on average 15 minutes per customer.  Seriously, how long does it take to say “can I see ...

Alton Towers - Has the Magic Finally Ended?

Shaun and I have teamed up to write this post, first explaining how much Alton Towers has changed over the years and then giving you some tips on how to make the most of your day there. Alton Towers' slogan used to be "Where the Magic Never Ends", but if this year is anything to go by, the magic has almost completely died. There was a time when upon entering Alton Towers you just knew you were going to have a good day. You were welcomed with open arms. There was free parking, free entertainment and shows, high street fast food brands with high street pricing, happy staff and of course the UK’s best rollercoasters and innovative selection of rides and experiences. My how times change. They don’t care anymore. They’ve just given up. Please don’t be fooled, they want your money and nothing more. If you have a good day here it’s by luck not design. Five Sisters Zoo

A patient Kookaburra in the bird walkthrough One of our my favourite things to do is to visit zoos and wildlife centres, and one of my favourites in Scotland has to be the wonderful Five Sisters Zoo which is situated just outside Polbeth, West Calder. They look after over 190 species of animals, birds and reptiles, some of which have been rescued from horrible circumstances. Lions and Tigers* and Bears (Oh My!) *Ok just lions and bears The zoo acquired two 3 year old bears 🐻🐻 (Henk and Eso) on 5 May 2018 from the International Animal Rescue Centre – Natuurhulpcentrum in Belgium who had rescued them from a terrible existence as an "attraction" at a roadside restaurant in Albania. The bears are thought to be victims of illegal poaching and taken from the wild after their mother was killed, sold to the tourist trade and somehow ended up at the restaurant in a cage that was far too small for them, where the only water they had were from puddles of rainwater ...
